Grow it yourself workshop at Alliance Française

Tvm: Alliance Française de Trivandrum is organising a ‘Grow it yourself’ workshop on Organic Kitchen Garden in association with Thanal on February 12, 2011. The workshop will focus on different methods of growing a kitchen garden, using organic inputs. There will also be free distribution of vegetable seedlings.

This is an initiative to encourage production of own vegetables, free of poison. Registration is open for this free event till February 09. The workshop will be followed by Earth Matters, a screening of the documentaries, Home and The Mists of Manenguba.

Home by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, composes of almost entirely of aerial shots of various places on Earth, showing the diversity of life and how humanity is threatening the ecological balance of the planet. The documentary chronicles the present day state of the Earth, its climate and how we as the dominant species have long-term repercussions on its future.

The Mists of Manenguba by Guillaume de Ginestel, takes to the inside of Mount Manenguba - an extinct volcano thousands of years. The film discovers the rich floral and faunal and landscapes and meets Bakossi, an indigenous tribe that believes in individual trees of the forest is one of his ancestors, who fight tirelessly to protect her from assaults region growing deforestation.
