Tvm: Irish singer, songwriter, author, occasional actor and political activist, Robert Frederick Zenon ‘Bob’ Geldof will perform in Trivandrum at the Nishagandhi on November 14, 2010 as the last night party of the Hay Festival.

Geldof is widely recognised for his activism, especially anti-poverty efforts concerning Africa. In 1984, he and Midge Ure founded the charity super group Band Aid to raise money for famine relief in Ethiopia. They went on to organise the charity super-concert Live Aid the following year and the Live 8 concerts in 2005.

Earlier today, Bob Geldoff at a press conference held as part of the Hay Festival said, “Indian investments in Africa may have questions cropping up relating to India’s status as a foreign aid receiver, however there is no need of such a concern as in the long run as India stands poised to be an economic powerhouse”.
