Tri Nation Jazz Connect on Jul 16

Tvm: Jazz Connect, a programme that brings together musicians from three nations - France, Germany and India in a unique contemporary celebration of century-old traditions in music will be held on July 16, 2010. The musical encounter at The Leela Kempinky in Kovalam will see three talented jazz musicians from Bangalore, Berlin and Paris come together.

Jazz Connect is a multi-city, inter-cultural music project sponsored by the Élysée Fund, designed on the one hand to showcase top musical talent from the three participating nations, and on the other to offer local musicians the opportunity to interact with the band, in an exciting four-way cultural exchange. The Jazz Connect tour of the South Indian cities of Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Thiruvananthapuram features German Pianist Uli Lenz, French Saxophonist Francois Jeanneau and Indian Percussionist Muthu Kumar Varadarajan.

Dr. V Venu IAS, Secretary, Department of Tourism will inaugurate the programme which will be graced by French Consul General, Pondicherry and German Consul General, Bangalore.

Jazz Connect is being organised in India by the Alliances Françaises in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram, the Goethe Institutes in Bangalore and Chennai and the Goethe Centres in Hyderabad and Thiruvananthapuram, in association with the Bangalore School of Music. Jazz Connect is aimed at bringing together the cultures of Europe and India, thus promoting friendship and enhancing the relations through cultural exchange.
