Tvm: The Chitra Rachana competition for school children organised by Akshaya today as part of the ongoing IT Awareness Mela for Children at the Museum grounds in Thiruvananthapuram was a big hit among children.

262 school students in LP, UP and High School categories participated in the drawing and painting competition. The highest participation was in the LP category with 132 entries. They were given a sketch for colouring. The topic for the 92 UP students was the need for e-governance to replace queues to access various utility services. For the remaining High School students, it was use of computers and IT applications in day to day life.

The results for the Chitra Rachana Competition are as follows:
L P Division
1st Prize: Dev Narayan S R, Holy Angels Convent, Trivandrum
2nd Prize: Irfan Ali, Khadhimul-Islam Nursery and LP School, Thalasseri, Kannur
3rd Prize: Reshma P D,  Chinmaya Vidhyalaya, Kunnumpuram, Trivandrum

According to the Ms. Kala, Akshaya District Coordinator for Trivandrum, the response to the contest was overwhelming. This was an initiative to make the children aware of the multifaceted activities of Akshaya and make them participate in these activities through their parents who will be the end beneficiaries. The organisers also hope these children would help in bridging the digital divide in future.

The Chithra Rachana Competition 2010 was organised by Akshaya in association with the Kerala State IT Mission. The prizes will be distributed later this week.
