Tvm: The online registration system for getting Building Permits in Trivandrum city was inaugurated today by the State Minister for Local Self Government Shri Paloli Muhammad Kutty. This is a pilot project by the City Corporation for online filing of applications for building permit.

Speaking after launching the online application system, the Minister, who also holds the portfolios of Town Planning and Regional Development Authorities, said that the system of applying building permits would be computerised in all panchayats. He also handed over an approval receipt to an online applicant.

Earlier briefing the media, Mayor C Jayan Babu said that the pilot project would cover 35 wards under the main office. The system will be extended to other wards in a phased manner. According to the Mayor, the idea was to eliminate middlemen and touts who swindle applicants. This online process is expected to make the system of issuing building permits corruption free.

The new applications for building permit can be filed through the Corporation's website which enables anytime anywhere filing but the hard copies of the documents would have to be submitted in person. The new system is expected to cut down the time taken for inspection of the plan submitted by the applicant. Applicants can also track the status of their applications online. The online system is being introduced under the Kerala Sustainable Urban Development Project (KSUDP).
