Tvm: The Platform No.1 at the Trivandrum Central Railway station saw an activity of a different kind today evening. Regular passengers must have been amused to find a bunch of youngster tweeting all the way.

“Come to Trivandrum Rajdhani tweetup tomo and win cool Kerala Tourism Goodies!” said the tweet from Kerala Tourism. “The Kerala Branded Rajdhani Express will be there. Join the tweetup, take Rajdhani pictures and win exciting goodies”, said another tweet.

Must admit, the twitinvite was quite effective for the country’s first tourism specific tweetup! “The #rajdhanitweetup was awesome. Around 25 people turned up and the entire station went into a photography fever”, said the tweet from Kenny Jacob, entrepreneur and twitaddict.

Organised as part of the Kerala Tourism Shoot and Tweet Contest which is open for all the twitter users in India, the first Rajdhani tweetup in Trivandrum was a big success. So as Ameenmaj’s tweet says, “Interesting move by a govt firm @KeralaTourism to hold a tweetup. Kudos #rajdhanitweetup”.

Meanwhile, a tweet from Nithin said, “#rajdhanitweetup was great :) everybody was busy wit taking pics but could manage to get intro! Met lots of nice guys!”. “A little late, but still made it to #rajdhanitweetup... Good to talk to all the tweeple with out using "@" in the front....”, says Reji, a techie who came all the way from Technopark to attend his first tweetup, also probably the first tweetup at a railway station.

For the uninitiated, ‘tweeple’ are the people on twitter and ‘tweetup’ is a meeting of tweeple. An ex-NRI, couple of budding entrepreneurs and some techies made up this motley bunch of tweeple who were present for today’s tweetup with like-minded people. Btw, did anybody say, “Recognise these tweeple ?”

And finally a tweet from keralatourism, “It was an interesting tweetup today #rajdhanitweetup Thank you everyone who made it to the event. Do share your photos/videos with us!”

Manmeet Singh Mahajan.
Hello All,
I want to tell you that It is one of the very decent projects that Kerala Tourism Department has taken place. Railways and Tourism Departments of various States Should come and carefully market their tourist destinations,so that Tourism can rise as well as our Trains will be maintained.
