Tvm: The Department of Science and Technology (DST) - Lockheed Martin India Innovation Growth Programme (IIGP) today announced 50 business deals between the IIGP winners and industry partners at the Technology Expo held in Thiruvananthapuram today. A Compendium of Technologies was also released. 19 winners showcased their technological innovations as part of the expo. There are two TBI incubated companies from Technopark, Trivandrum in the list of 50 - Artin Dynamics and Light Logics.
H K Mittal, Secretary - Technology Development Board and Advisor & Head - National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), DST said, “Innovation requires partnership and there is immense value in this partnership which has resulted in the DST Lockheed Martin India Innovation Programme. It’s difficult to create a scientist into a entrepreneur but it’s a matter of pride that we could create 50 innovators”. He added that at NSTEDB, the maximum number of applications is from Kerala and maximum number of grants is awarded to Kerala.
In his special address, the Minister for Industries & IT, Shri P K Kunhalikutty extended all possible help from the Government and his department for the successful implementation of the programme.
Ms. Jennifer Byrne, VP - Corporate Engineering & Technology, Lockheed Martin; Dr. Juan Miguel Sanchez Mangold, VP - Research, University of Texas; Dr. Rajiv Sharma, ED, Indo-US S&T Forum; Nirankar Saxena, Director, FICCI and Mervin Alexander, CEO, Technopark were present on the occasion.
The IIGP is an Indo-US initiative to promote technological growth in the country. The Programme is equally funded by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India and Lockheed Martin Corporation, and was developed with the assistance of the Indo-US Science and Technology Forum, IC2 Institute at the University of Texas, and FICCI.
