KSRTC limits online booking time, 10 pm to 9 am

Tvm: Sounds crazy but the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation has decided to limit the timings of its online booking facility from 10 pm to 9 am. The heavy traffic for online reservation has been given as the reason for this decision. This is one move that will turn away prospective costumers as people without an Internet connection at home will be at a disadvantage.

The online booking system was designed and developed by Kran Consulting, a Trivandrum based IT services company and the system integration is provided by Keltron. The inability of the online system to handle heavy traffic does put a question mark on the capability of Kran Consulting and Keltron. The KSRTC website has been in the news recently for all the wrong reasons. During the Onam season, the website was hacked though the online booking was not affected.

The online booking facility of KSRTC, ‘Saarathi’, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Shri V S Achuthanandan on November 18, 2009. Till date, about 2.8 lakh people have used this online facility to book tickets, especially long distance journeys. It was of great benefit to IT professionals, especially those who go regularly to their hometown on weekends. But this new timings will cause a lot of inconvenience. Many readers of the KSRTC Blog feel that that this decision would help the private long distance bus operators and maybe, they are behind this move to sabotage the system.

This is ridiculous.....I think all this things point to corruption....Because first of all the site is not professional..I think the Department people gave this works to somebody they favors. Even that is okay,Because it is their wish to give the work.But at least they should done it properly....recently somebody hacked the site.IP is not masked..and lots of other problem...See how other states are running their sites...Lots of companies are available here to do this work properly and efficiently.Even they can approach TCS,they are doing all government projects.Trivandrum the state capital itself holding Techno park.The KSRTC people always crying that the department is in loss.People are not travelling in KSRTC only because their bad service.I started travelling on KSRTC after this online facility came.Because it is very helpful to the Bangalore ans. Now they are doing this.Hello government if you are not at all maintaining the good service the people wont travel..you will be always in loss...Please take care....

Actually its ridiculous! What's the point in having an online reservation system if its not 24x7. The minimum they could have done was to make it work during the day time when people can access it from office.

KSRTC, you are digging your own grave. All the best.

rediculous too.....what a service.....first of all you people kept the reservaton counter outskirt of bangalore...which people can access half days effort ... ..secondly online reservation ...midnight like....the time which no browsing centers and office doesn't work......super service...
