Ahmedabad: ‘Malayali Wings’, the first Malayalam e-magazine was launched by renowned classical dancer Mrinalini Sarabhai in Ahmedabad on January 22, 2010.

The veteran dancer presented an electronic copy of Malayali Wings from her home to Union Minister of State for External Affairs Dr. Shashi Tharoor. The e-magazine carries articles on arts and culture, literature, and agriculture. The inaugural issue is dedicated to Mrinalini herself and carries an article by her besides some of her rare photographs taken during 1940 -1980.

This is first such attempt by a group of Keralites living in different parts of the country and abroad. The magazine and its website launch marks the first anniversary of Malayali Friends Group, a social network started by Mr. Gopal Nair in Ahmedabad.

Mr. Nair hopes that The Malayali Wings will catalyse the structured circulation of articles, news, plus features on art, culture, and many other areas. "We also hope that it will serve as a platform to promote budding writers, encourage fresh talents and applaud the achievers. Let this E-zine ignite passion for service and help in everyone’s heart. My words will mean a lot when you leaf through the inaugural issue as it is studded with a galaxy of stars merged with our members. Most of them have their roots in Kerala but have illuminated the skies worldwide."
