Kollam: WikiSamgamotsavam, the annual conference of Malayalam Wikimedians and the general public interested in free software movement will be held in Kollam on April 28-29, 2012. The Malayalam Wiki (ml.wikipedia.org) is the Malayalam language edition of Wikipedia, the free and publicly editable online encyclopedia and was launched on December 21, 2002. The project is the leading Wikipedia among other South East Asian language Wikipedias in various quality matrices. It has grown to be a wiki containing more than 23,000 articles as of April 2012.

Kozhikode to host NASSCOM Emerge Forum Fridays’ 2.0 on Jan 31
Kozhikode: The 16th session of NASSCOM EMERGE Forum Fridays’ 2.0 will be held on January 31, 2012 at Kozhikode. The Malabar Chamber of Commerce will host the event, the highlight of which will be a talk by Dr. Saji Gopinath, Dean, IIM Kozhikode on Blue Ocean Strategy. According to a communiqué from Nasscom, while the event is free for both Members and Non Members, prior registration is mandatory.
Infosys planning Rs.800 crores investment in Kerala: CEO
Alappuzha: Infosys is planning to invest about Rs.800 crores in Kerala over the next five years to expand its operations and expects to generate 10,000 new jobs here. This was disclosed by S D Shibulal, CEO, Infosys at Alappuzha on Saturday. Shibulal, who is from Muhamma in Alappuzha District, was in town to receive felicitations from the Alappuzha Press Club, on his becoming the Infosys CEO.
Amrita University to launch free online tuition programme
Kollam: Amrita University has announced a pioneering online education initiative - Free All India Tuition Programme, for all college students. The online programme is supported by the Ministry of Human Resources Development’s (MHRD) National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NME-ICT) initiative. Initially, the pilot programme will be launched in Kerala and later, extended to other States.
Centre to collaborate with States to promote Electronics Manufacturing industry
New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Communications & IT, Shri Sachin Pilot, today emphasised the importance of the role of the State Governments in the promotion of Electronics System and Design Manufacturing (ESDM) industry in the country. He was addressing a meeting with Chief Ministers and Ministers of the States held in New Delhi today. He also added that while the Government is coming up with a comprehensive policy framework to make it globally competitive to invest in India.
