Kozhikode: FOSSMeet 2010, the annual event on Free and Open Source Software orgainised at the National Institute of Technology, Kozhikode concluded yesterday. The event held from February 5 - 7, 2010 brought together FOSS enthusiasts from all over the country.

Several events like FOSS Huts, talks and workshops were held at the FOSSMeet, an attempt at popularising Free and Open Source Software in India. The talk on ‘FOSS and Technology’ by Atul Chitnis, Chief Products Officer and Senior VP, Geodesic, one of India's best known technologists on the concluding day was a great attraction.

The FOSSMeet 2010 was inaugurated by Pradeep Kumar MLA, in the presence of Dr. G R C Reddy, Director, NIT Kozhikode. More than 200 participants from various engineering colleges and free software professionals attended this FOSSMeet.

This event started as FLOSS Meet at NIT Kozhikode in 2005 which was a single day event. It is being conducted at NIT Calicut annually since then and this was the 6th edition. During this period, it has evolved into one of the biggest Free Software conferences in India. FOSSMeet was jointly organized by NIT Calicut's Student Groups: FOSSCell NITC, Computer Society of India (CSI), Computer Science and Engineering Association (CSEA), Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and Free Software Users' Group Calicut.
