Kannur: The fourth meet-up of the Malayalam Wiki working group will be held on June 11, 2011 at Kannur. The event is meant as a gathering of people who contribute and work with the Malayalam Wikipedia of the Wikimedia project.
The programme to be held at the Kannur District Library Council Hall will be inaugurated by B Iqbal, former VC, Kerala University. The day long workshop will also have the presence of Wikimedia Foundation representatives - Tory Reed, Bishakha Dutta and Hisham Mundol. The workshop is being conducted by social organisations which are interested in developing the Malayalam Wikipedia along with the Kannur District Library Council and the district unit of Kerala Shastra Sahithya Parishad. A CD containing articles selected for the Wiki library will also be released on the occasion. A seminar on the significance of Malayalam wiki initiatives and their reports will be presented.

The Malayalam Wikipedia is the Malayalam language edition of Wikipedia, a free and publicly editable online encyclopaedia, and was launched on December 21, 2002. As per the Wikipedia, the Malayalam Wiki project is the leading Wikipedia among other South East Asian language Wikipedias in various quality matrices. It has grown to be a wiki containing more than 17,500 articles as of April 2011.
