Cyber Forensics and Digital Analysis Centre inaugurated

Tvm: The Cyber Forensics and Digital Analysis Centre of Kerala Police was inaugurated by the Home Minister Shri Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on Saturday. The centre, located at the  Police Headquarters campus in the city, is  the first of its kind in the country.

The Cyber Forensics and Digital Analysis Centre was set up by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) to provide forensic expertise and training to police officers investigating cyber crimes. The centre will train judges and prosecutors in digital forensics for effective administration of justice in cyber crime cases. There will be online and off-line training modules for various departments also.

The centre will also be a repository of modern cyber forensic tools used for analysing digital devices, including BlackBerrys and PDAs, involved in crime cases. The Union Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has given a grant of Rs.1.68 crores for this project.

Mr. K Jayakumar, Additional Chief Secretary (Home); Rajan T Joseph, Director, CDAC; , Jacob Punnoose, DGP; Police Tomin J. Thachankery, IGP; Mervin Alexander, CEO Technopark were some of the dignitories present on the occassion.
