Expat traced as 'fake mansion' mail creator

E-mail

Tvm: Renny Mathew, an expat working in Qatar has been traced as the creator of the controversial email which was widely circulated as Pinarayi Vijayan’s mansion. According to sources at the State Cyber Police station which is investigating the case, Renny was contacted by the police over email and he has admitted that he had created the mail. However, he claimed that he had no intention to defame Pinarayai Vijayan.

Renny from Pathanamthitta, was traced with the information provided by another NRI Dinesh Nair who had forwarded the mail to Manoj, who was earlier arrested in connection with the case. The picture of the house seen in the email was taken by one Roy Mampallil, a BSNL employee. He posted the picture on his Orkut profile. Renny, who took the picture from the Orkut, had labeled it as Pinarayi Vijayan’s house and forwarded it to four of his friends, including one Saji Ninan of Angola on November 10. Dinesh Nair received the mail from Saji. The police are yet to trace the sources from which Karthik, another youth arrested in connection with the case, received the mail. Though he said that he had received the mail from one Dhanya, the person could not be traced yet.

The police will submit a report at the Vanchiyoor court here about tracing of the creator of the email and subsequent steps to arrest the accused will be taken. A team of the Cyber Police Station comprising DySP Sukumara Pillai, CIs Bijumon, Ajith Mohan and Vinayakumaran Nair is investigating the case under the supervision of IG Tomin Thachankary. CI Bijumon had earlier cracked the Orkut fake profile involving SFI leader Sindhu Joy.
