E-mail

Tvm: Saheer Muhammed, a 26 year old medical graduate who has done his higher studies from New Delhi and China, was arrested by the Kerala Cyber Crime Police on Friday from his residence in Manjeri in Malappuram District, for impersonation, creating a fake website in the name of a former Minister and for uploading defamatory videos on the site.

In March, 2010, the then Kerala Minister For Health & Social Welfare, Smt. P K Sreemathi Teacher had filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police Station in Thiruvananthapuram regarding a website in her name. The website apparently contained her videos and derogatory remarks about her. Based on her complaint, a case was registered under section 469 IPC and 66 A (a) & (b) of the Information Technology (IT) Act.

As the WHOIS data of the website, which was available in the public domain, couldn’t yet much information about the owner of the site, the Cyber Police had to take the help of Cyber Forensic Technology to find the culprit. The investigations were led by Joshy Mathew, Inspector of Police at the Cyber Crime Police Station and his team consisting of Sujikumar CG, SI; Surendran Nair VS, ASI; Vinod Kumar PN, CPO and Vinod DV, CPO assisted by Santhosh Kumar S, Driver.
