E-mail

Tvm: Avanzo, a Thrissur based Charitable Trust, has launched a toll free Cyber Crime helpline (1800-266-8001) and a Cyber Crime awareness website. The activities of the Trust were launched by V V Vinod, Secretary, Trivandrum Management Association at a function held in Trivandrum today. Posters for spreading awareness about Cyber Crimes among school children were also launched on the occasion.

The toll free helpline would start functioning from 9.30 am on July 01, 2010. Initially the services of the helpline, to be manned by trained MSW students, would be available in Malayalam for certain hours of the day. The services are intended for individuals only and not for corporate customers. Avanzo Charitable Trust is an initiative of Cyber Detective & Cyber Crime Investigator, Ms.Dhanya Menon, as its Managing Trustee.

Speaking at the launch, Ms. Dhanya Menon, said, “The helpline would endeavour to provide guidance towards using and facing issues arising from the use of mobile phones, computers and social networking sites.” She clarified that the helpline would function as a guide and not as a legal service. “We also hope, the website and the helpline would create fundamental awareness and help people learn some basic precautions while using mobiles, internet and computers. Time is a crucial factor in cyber cases and it's important that people know they preserve evidence and don't panic by taking extreme steps like suicides when they face threats. The knowledge that there is always help available is what is intended to be spread through the helpline”, she added.
