The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned Rs. 49.53 crores towards the development of Technopark Kollam. Technopark Kollam was recently notified as a Special Economic Zone by Government of India.  This is the second funding by Nabard for an IT

Infrastructure project under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) Scheme. Nabard had earlier funded the infrastructural development of Infopark, Kochi in the last financial year. Technopark will use the sanctioned amount for the development work of the Technopark Kollam that is coming up in Kundara, near Kollam. Developmental work on the power infrastructure (which has already begun), land development, internal roads, drains and culverts, canal embankment, water supply and distribution network, sewage treatment plant and the IT building of 1,00,000 sq.ft will all be undertaken with the sanctioned amount.

“The Nabard funding will be instrumental not only for the developmental work undertaken for the Kollam Technopark, but also will extend to the entire Mulavana village and Perayam Panchayat. We have already set up Technolodges in Kadakkal and Perinad and all the parks together will generate an employment of over 10,000, an initiative that we envisage will change the face of Kollam district,”sSaid Mervin Alexander, CEO, Technopark.

Nabard has been mainly funding to the Agricultural and allied Sectors and Infrastructure creation like Roads, Bridges, rural water supply, rural electrification projects, etc and with the Infopark project and Kollam Technopark project, they have expanded to IT as well.
