Tvm: All work and no play make Jack a dull boy. Well, the Techies at the Technopark in Trivandrum are sure they don’t want to remain dull boys. Yes, along with their coding and meeting project deadlines, it’s the time for celebration and fun. They are eagerly waiting for launch of their fine arts club ‘Natana’ to showcase their long lost talents on stage.

Anoop Ambika, Secretary, GTech, said, “The Group of Technology Companies in Kerala (GTech) has taken the initiative to form this club. The objective of the club is to bring together professionals from the IT community who are keen to pursue their interests in culture, music, films, dance and other forms of arts. The companies have welcomed the employee engagement programme.”

Natana has already formed a core committee with two representatives from each company in Technopark to identify the talents and to ensure equal participation. The committee is now forming a talent pool as part of setting up the club. The members will be categorised according to their interests. The employees are eagerly waiting for its launch, which is planned on January 20, 2011. So far, around 350 employees have registered their names.’’

The official website of Natana has a page ‘I can’ where employees can enter their talents and also mention their interests. Natana has already conducted a contest for selecting its tagline and the theme for the launch. The organisers are also making a list of talents for the art forms which include dancers (classical and western), singers, musical instruments (traditional / fusion), acrobats, mimicry, traditional fine arts (Thottam, Theyyam etc), content writers, art directors, actors / mime artists, film buffs, DJs, magicians, speakers, aspiring models and fashion / dress designers. They aspire to make Natana a leading arts club and they believe that the launch will be a curtain raiser to the coming eventful journey.

Its happy to hear that Technopark employees are going to felicitate an arts club for showcasing their inborn talents. Its a healthy concept because we know IT professionals are always regarded as idle human beings.More over we are aware that Technopark is a mini India or Mini world, where people from several countries comprising of different cultures constitute. The concept the 'I can' page is also a commendable one. My best wishes to Natana and Devu for her report.
