Tvm: As part of their efforts to help the IT industry in Kerala identify new market opportunities for growth and expand its reach, the Group of Technology Companies (GTech) in Kerala  has unveiled a unique strategy to tap market opportunities in the Scandinavian region of Europe. As an initiative in this direction, GTech in partnership with Invest in Sweden, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Sweden organised a session titled ‘Explore Sweden: New Business Opportunities’ today at Technopark, Trivandrum.

Srikant Illuri, Executive Director & Country Head, Invest in Sweden and Vineet Garg- Business Head, ICT, Invest in Sweden spoke about the opportunites that Sweden offer for companies to set shop there. Srikant gave an Economic & Business Overview on Sweden and Vineet talked on ICT Opportunities in Sweden - Joint Venture Projects, Joint Technology Development Projects, Greenfield Projects & Mergers and Acquisitions. The visited delegation also mooted the idea of GTech taking a delegation of CEO’s to Nordic Countries to establish joint venture partnerships to tap Business Opportunities.

Anoop Ambika, Secretary, GTech said, "The UK and the US markets are the current targets for the Kerala IT Industry. But with the economies of these countries slowing down, there could be a cut on the IT spend of companies located here. The need to look at newer markets has never been greater. The Scandainavian countries present a fantastic opportunity for the SME's in Kerala to tap. We propose to bring in Government representatives from some more countries in the near future".

Mervin Alexander, CEO, Technopark; Binu Sankar, CEO, GTech and several CEOs from IT companies attended the session. In the last few months GTech has been organising similar sessions on investing in European countries and the Middle East. Government delegations from Denmark and Baharain visited Technopark and Infopark recently to showcase and identify the potential business areas for the Kerala based IT Companies.
