Tvm: According to officials in the IT Department, global IT majors IBM and Oracle are planning to set shop in Technopark. The two companies are supposed to have had the initial talks with the Technopark authorities.
Agency reports quoted an official, who did not wish to be identified as saying, “We feel that this endeavour by these IT companies is part of their strategy to move into tier-II cities in the country and they are seriously considering Technopark. We feel positive about their efforts and if this happens then it would be a major boost to the industry in the state. IBM and Oracle would be looking at employing more than 4,000 employees.”
Except for Infosys and TCS, Technopark does not have any big names and this move would surely give a huge boost to make Kerala as the fastest growing IT destination in the country. HCL Infosystems is also setting up shop in Technopark Phase III.

We wanted more credible information and met up with the Technopark officials to discuss this development. While officials there didn’t deny the report, Mervin Alexander, CEO, Technopark told us that he was not aware about Oracle considering Technopark.
The Global Study Team of IBM had visited Technopark and had a series of meetings in Kerala with Officials from Technopark, IT Department, Department of Technical Education and CXOs of few companies in Technopark including UST Global. According to Mervin, “IBM is looking at built-up property and we have offered them ready space in Thejaswani and Leela. If they want more, they can have in Phase III”.
