Six new Technolodges to come up

Tvm: The Government of Kerala has sanctioned the setting up of six new Technolodges in the State. These Technolodges are to come up in the districts of  Kollam, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kannur.

The identified Panchayats are Veliyam, Anchal, Poothakulam in Kollam district, Thirumarady in Ernakulam district, Kodakara in Thrissur and Mayyil in Kannur districts. Existing buildings of the Grama Panchayats of Veliyam, Anchal, Poothakulam, Block Panchayt of Kodakara and Jilla Panchayat of Kannur and Pampakuda Khadi & Village Industries Co-operative Society at Kakkur near Piravom shall be refurbished by KSITIL through Technopark, Infopark, Cyberpark and leased to companies for starting business.

The Technolodges in Kollam are in addition to the two Technolodges already inaugurated and leased to one of the leading BPO in Technopark, Accentia for business at Kadakkal and Perinad in Kollam District.

Kerala plans to set up about 100 Technolodges, over the next five years to attract more companies to the State. According to Dr. Ajay Kumar, Principal Secretary (IT), “We plan to have 100 techno-lodges over the next five years, offering 30-60 per cent cheaper rentals. These zones will be apt for companies looking at 50-100 seat centres.” The goernment will invest about Rs.20-25 crore in the project. These Techno-odges, to be set up on the lines of IT parks, will be small in size and cater to small IT firms.
