Tvm: The Kerala government will migrate all its official and departmental websites to a Content Management Framework. This was announced by the Chief Secretary, Smt. Neela Gangadharan IAS while inaugurating a one day workshop on Content Management Framework organised by the State IT Mission in association with C-Dit for Department Nodal Officers today. Dr. Ajay Kumar IAS, Principal Secretary (IT), Smt. Sheela Thomas IAS, Principal Secretary, Dr. Rethan Kelkar IAS, Director KSITM, Mr. Nandakumar IAS, Director I&PRD are some of the key officials who attended the the inaugural session.
Smt. Neela Gangadharan also emphasised the need for these websites to play the role of facilitator while improving citizen - government interface. Dr. Ajay Kumar stressed on the need for user friendly and bilingual sites. He asked all the departments to migrate to the government data centre which is offering free hosting in a very secure environment. At present there are about 300 websites under the government.
The workshop is an effort to create awareness about Content Management Framework among government officials. Content generation for departmental websites, web guidelines for departmental and organisational websites familiarisation of CMF are some of the sessions to be handled during the one day workshop.
The aim of this project is to increase the value of information on Government websites by migrating these websites to a Content Management Framework (CMF) which would support the evolutionary digital life cycle of information. This includes creation, updation, publishing, translating, archiving and retiring. The CMF allows the authors (in this case the Government Departments and Organizations) to manage the content on a real-time basis as the information is generated or as the content evolves. It also ensures systematic archiving of earlier content which can be used for future references.
The Kerala State IT Mission (KSITM) has taken up the task of enabling each Government Department to update the data on their websites, by facilitating the migration of their websites to a Content Management Framework (CMF).
