Ernakulam bags State School IT Fest 2012 Championship

Tvm: Ernakulam District has won the overall championship at the 10th edition of the State School IT Fest which concluded today at the Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram. Kasaragod District was the runner up with Kozhikode, Kannur and Wayanad Districts in the third position. The best school in the High School category was PKMM HSS from Edarikkode in Malappuram District and MDS HSS from Kottayam, in the Higher Secondary School category.

Thiruvananthapuram Corporation bets big on RFID Project

Tvm: The Thiruvananthapuram Corporation will be soon implementing a centrally sponsored Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) project across the city. With this project, the Corporation envisages full fledged connectivity between each of the households and the Corporation Offices. An RFID tag will be installed at convenient location near the front door of each house within the Corporation area to enable the connectivity. RFID is the use of a wireless non-contact radio system to transfer data from a tag attached to an object, for the purposes of automatic identification and tracking.

Kerala gets its second Data Centre to boost e-governance

Tvm: Kerala today became the first State in the country to have two Data Centres. The second State Data Centre (SDC) at the Technopark in Trivandrum was inaugurated by the Minister for IT & Industries, Shri P K Kunhalikutty at a function held at the Park Centre. The new tier II Data Centre, located in the Thejaswani building in Technopark campus, has been set up at a cost of Rs.22.5 crores.

State School IT Fest logs in Day 1 at Technopark

Tvm: The 10th edition of the State School IT Fest got off to a colourful start today at the Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram. However the planned inaugural function was cancelled as mark of respect to the Kerala Governor who passed away last week. About 500 participants including students from all districts of the State, who have secured the first and second place in the school and sub-district level competitions, are attending the fest.

Apply online for Kerala Engineering, Agriculture & Medical Entrance

Tvm: The Commissionarate of Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala has made arrangements for students to apply online for the Kerala Engineering, Agriculture & Medical (KEAM) Entrance Examinations 2012. The entrance examinations will be held from April 23 to 26, 2012 at 300 centres in Kerala and also in New Delhi and Dubai.

Defence Pensioners, please intimate email id & mobile no to DPDO

Tvm: Defence Pensioners who have not furnished the particulars of their e-mail id and mobile phone number to the Defence Pension Disbursing Office (DPDO), Trivandrum are requested to furnish the same, latest by January 20, 2012, for intimation of their monthly pension entitlements through PCs or Mobiles, according to a release from the Press Information Bureau (Defence Wing).

Technopark Trivandrum to host State School IT Fest on Feb 1 & 2

Tvm: The Technopark campus in Trivandrum is all set to host the 11th edition of the State School IT Fest on February 1 & 2, 2012. About 500 students from across Kerala, including the first and second position winners in district-level IT fests, are expected to attend the two day IT event. It is for the fifth consecutive time that the State School IT Mela is being held at Technopark. Meanwhile, the Fest website was launched on January 27. A release from IT@School said that the inaugural function scheduled for February 1 has been cancelled due to official mourning.
